HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The new head of the United Way of Southeast Mississippi has actually been in charge of that organization on a temporary basis for several months.
Tracie Fowler was officially named as president/CEO on Wednesday. She had been serving as interim executive director since July, following a 15-year career at the Hattiesburg American newspaper.
She takes over for former executive director Dan Kibodeaux, who left the United Way last March.
Among her first duties Thursday was to draw the winning ticket in a special raffle hosted by Forrest County to benefit the United Way.
The prize was an autographed Southern Miss football helmet, signed by gridiron greats Brett Favre, Ray Guy, Sammy Winder and Reggie Collier.
The winner was Charles Finnegan, owner of Finlo Construction.
The raffle raised $2.350.00.
