HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The University of Southern Mississippi is hosting their spring concert “Eagle Jam” on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Pride Field.
Famous singer, song writer and winner of the eighth season of American Idol, Kris Allen, is headlining the event.
“We have two openers that are here locally in Hattiesburg. We have DJ Alisha Knox, she actually works here on campus, and she is going to be spinning some tunes to get the crowd going and jumping,” said Southern Mississippi Activities Counsel President Gavin Snyder. “Then we are going to have Gary Stanton who has performed around our area with his formally known band Somethin' Sweet. He will do an acoustic set and then Kris Allen will come behind him.”
Snyder said the event is to promote USM athletics. The men's basketball team will play Western Kentucky after the concert, and local restaurants will provide free food samples for attendees.
“Eaglepalooza highlights a football game coming up that weekend, so we decided that we wanted to have a concert to really promote the whole basketball season,” said Snyder.
The concert is free for students and the community.
