POPLARVILLE, MS (WDAM) - Hundreds of women from across South Mississippi will be in Poplarville this weekend, learning valuable tips about taking better care of themselves.

The 9th annual Women's Health Symposium at Pearl River Community College Saturday will feature a panel discussion by doctors, various heath screenings, live entertainment and a luncheon.

Organizers say it's all about making sure women have the information they need to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

"The event is about getting women together, allowing them to have a good time, letting them enjoy and also getting information about their health," said Jana Causey, assistant vice-president for Forrest County Operations for Pearl River Community College. "So many people put their health off and that's one of the things that we need to focus on as a society is keeping up people's health," Causey said.

The event is already sold out, with about 500 people expected to attend.
