COLUMBIA, MS (WDAM) - A Columbia woman is behind bars and charged with murder and arson in relation to a December 24 homicide.

Tammy Morris Arns, 46, of Columbia appeared in court Tuesday afternoon for an initial appearance where her bond was set at $1 million for murder, and $20,000 for arson.

Arns is charged with the murder of Thomas "Tomcat" Sandifer, 63, who was found in his burned trailer on Riverbend Road in the Goss Community of Marion County Dec. 24.

According to investigators, Sandifer's autopsy revealed that the cause of death was multiple stab wounds.

Arns was arrested Thursday on two grand jury indictments, pertaining to the sale/or transfer of controlled substance.

"During the course of the death investigation Arns was discovered as a person of interest in the December murder," said Singley.

"She was questioned about evidence and Monday night, she gave a full confession to investigators," said Singley.

"There is no more satisfaction than solving a crime and making an arrest when you are the police,"said Marion County Sheriff Berkley Hall.

"I just want to take my hat off to the members of my department as well as my three investigators, along with the endless hours they worked on the case," said Hall.

The Marion County Sheriff's Department, MBI and the State Fire Marshall's office conducted the investigation.

Though she stands at just 4-foot-10, Aimee Durn is a force for the Jones County Junior College women's soccer club. The short freshman from England is a big reason the Lady Bobcats are 5-0-1. "They say big things come in small packages and that's very true for Aimee," said tenth-year JCJC women's soccer coach Dolores Deasley.
