The Mississippi Department of Transportation's (MDOT) Southern Commissioner Tom King announces the following update on the reconstruction and expansion of Highway 607 in Hancock County.
Beginning Tuesday, February 3 all northbound and southbound traffic will be moved to the newly constructed Highway 607. Crews will then begin work to reconstruct roadway along Highway 607.
The total project involves construction of new roadway along Highway 607 from Texas Flat Road to Interstate 59, and reconstruction of the existing highway into two northbound lanes. The project was awarded to TCB Construction Company of Poplarville for $15.2 million.
The project will provide a four-lane north to south corridor in Hancock County, allowing hurricane evacuation to Interstate 59.
Work is scheduled for completion by October 2015.
