Bond set for Laurel man charged with multiple drug offenses

LAUREL, MS (WDAM) - A 55-year-old man  made his initial appearance in municipal court on Monday before Judge Kyle Robertson.

Carl McClendon's bond was set at $115,000 for multiple drug and weapons charges.

McClendon was arrested on Thursday after the Laurel Narcotics Division executed a search warrant in the 800 block of Woodbury Avenue where officers recovered approximately 40 grams of crack cocaine, six grams of methamphetamine, and 120 grams of marijuana packaged to sell.

Agents also recovered two handguns at the scene.

McClendon is charged with possession of cocaine, methamphetamine and marijuana with intent to distribute while in possession of a firearm, all within 1500 feet of a church.

He is also charged with being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

McClendon remains in the Jones County Jail.
