Rep. Steven Palazzo speaks at a ceremony in Columbia Friday.
COLUMBIA, MS (WDAM) -
Congressman Steven Palazzo is reacting to President Obama's State of the Union speech from Tuesday night. He said the president is a great storyteller, but he's out of touch with the American people.
In that speech before Congress, Obama made the case for new taxes, offered a new approach on immigration and called for a community college education to be free.
Palazzo (R-4th Dist.) said the speech shows the president is, "not in touch with reality."
"He told a lot of stories," Palazzo said. "His rhetoric never matches his reality. He offered everything under the moon, but he never showed a way to pay for it. He wants to increase taxes, he wants to spend more, he wants to over-regulate. That's not a recipe for job creation and getting our country moving," he said.
Palazzo was in Columbia Friday to present medals to a World War Two veteran and to tour tornado damage.
