HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Felica Morris, Principal of Woodley Elementary School, was honored with the Administrator of the Year Award for the Hattiesburg Public School District.

“I am very shocked and honored to receive this award and I guess overwhelmed by the whole process of it,” Morris said. “I'm just grateful for my colleagues thinking enough of me to nominate me for administrator of the year.”

Morris has been with the school district for 11 years, and said that her greatest accomplishment was pulling the school from a rating of an “F” to a high performing “B”. She also credits her staff with helping to achieve that accomplishment.

“In the foreseeable future I wish that we could continue to at least maintain what we're doing here at the school,” Morris said. ”Every child deserves to have a good education and also wonderful teachers to help and support them as they transition on to junior high school and high school and to future careers.”
