Forrest Co. manhunt underway for kidnapping suspect

FORREST COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

Forrest County deputies are on scene of a manhunt for a kidnapping suspect near Elks Lake Road.

Ryan Ledingham, 28, is around 5'6, 200 pounds, brown hair, hazel eyes, last seen wearing green sweat pants, and a black pull over hoodie.

According to FCSO Capt. Glen Moore, Ledingham is considered armed and dangerous.

Around 8:45 a.m. Thursday officers responded to the Tuttle Ridge subdivision in reference to a domestic related kidnapping, upon arrival officers discovered Ledingham had kidnapped his former girlfriend and stolen a car from the residence.

According to Moore, around 30 minutes the later, officer found the vehicle abandoned at the end of Chester Brown Road.

The Hattiesburg Police Crime Scene Unit was called in to help process the scene.

According to Moore, as they were processing the vehicle, a second call came in, and a caller advised Ledingham broke into to residence in the 100 block of Chester Brown Road.

"During his attempt to break in, the victim was able to escape and go to a nearby residence for help, we have her and she is safe," said Moore.

"Right now we have officers searching the woods, and roads near Elks Lake Road," said Moore.

Officers from Petal Police Department with additional K-9 units are on scene as well as AAA Ambulance.

Moore repeated that Ledingham is considered armed and dangerous, and if anyone makes contact with him, call 911 immediately.
