JCJC’s Jones named MACJC Player of the Week

Jones County Junior College's Bryce Jones has been named the MACJC men's basketball Player of the Week.

Jones, a 6-foot sophomore point guard from Boys and Girls High School in Brooklyn, New York, scored 17 points and had 12 assists to lead the Bobcats to an 82-65 victory over Itawamba on Jan. 6.

Jones, a lefthander, has helped the Bobcats to a 10-0 overall start, 3-0 in the MACJC South Division this season. He was an instrumental figure for the Bobcats as they captured the NJCAA Division I Men's National Tournament last March in Hutchinson, Kansas. Dating back to last year, JCJC is currently on an 18-game winning streak.

Jones, who is receiving interest from several Division I schools, is averaging 19.8 points, 6.1 assists, 4.6 rebounds and 2.2 steals per game for head coach Rahim Lockhart's Bobcats. He is shooting 51 percent from the floor, 36 percent from 3-point range and 81 percent from the free throw line.

The Bobcats will host No. 14 Pearl River at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday in a key division matchup. The Wildcats are 12-0 overall and 3-0 in the division.
