HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Nearly 1,200 Hattiesburg residents have subscribed to curbside recycling since the city overtook the program at the start of the New Year.
Those interested in signing up for the program have two ways to do so.
Residents can go to the city's water billing office and sign up in person, or return the form that was mailed out to all of the water department subscribers in the city. There is a $3.00 fee for this service and it will be added to the residents' water bill.
"Once you subscribe then we send someone out to deliver a blue bin. Then whatever ward you are in, it goes Monday through Friday one through five," said Hattiesburg Public Works department Manager Allen McKinley. "If you have any issues or if your can has been missed for recycling then all you have to do is call that number 601-545-4545 and we will send someone out and pick it up."
So far, the city has picked up over 17,000 pounds of recycled waste.
