Final Residence Hall in Century Park South Complex Set to Open

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The following is a news release from The University of Southern Mississippi:

With the final touches almost in place, the University of Southern Mississippi will welcome students to Scott Hall on Friday, Jan. 9 as part of the new Century Park South residential complex.

Scott Hall follows the fall 2014 openings of Vann Hall and Luckyday Citizenship Hall in the magnificent Century Park South complex. Also known as Building A, Scott Hall will include the new Moffitt Health Center, scheduled to open later in the spring semester.

"Many people worked to see Scott Hall delivered in time for the start of the spring semester," said Dr. Scott Blackwell, director of Residence Life at Southern Miss. "Vann Hall and Luckyday Citizenship Hall opened in time for the fall semester and excitement has been building for some time for the new Scott Hall. A ribbon-cutting and dedication ceremony is planned for April 9, which will be a great day for Southern Miss and Golden Eagles everywhere."

Century Park South brings state-of-the art residence halls to Southern Miss, providing 954 beds for freshmen and other scholarship students. The $55.6 million project features three buildings, with five floors in each structure.

Blackwell notes that approximately 200 students will take up residence in Scott Hall initially with accommodations for as many as 443 undergraduates. Freshmen and upper-class males will reside on the second floor, while freshmen and upper-class females will reside on the third floor this spring term.
