LAMAR COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

Lamar County Sheriff Danny Rigel has filed his paper work to run for a fourth term as sheriff.

Rigel has 33 years of law enforcement experience, and retired as major of the Hattiesburg Police Department in 2002. He was elected Sheriff of Lamar County in 2003, where he has modernized the department and provided much needed equipment as well as increased the amount of patrol officers to cover the county.

“We have increased our man power by 17 deputies, that's 17 more deputies on the road and in investigations,” said Rigel.

The department now operates with 42 deputies according to Rigel.

“We have got a great working relationship with the board of supervisors and with the general public, and you know I give all the credit to the people that I work with, I have got a great staff,” said Rigel.

“I look forward to serving the people of Lamar County, and if you have any concerns or any questions, I'd love to hear them, that's what we are here for, it's the Lamar County Sheriff's Department, it's your sheriff's department,” said Rigel.

At this time no other people have qualified to run against Rigel.
