JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - According to Jones County Emergency Management Agency, the Tallahala Creek is projected to rise above flood stage by Monday night and will continue to rise to possibly 18 - 19 feet by Tuesday afternoon.
"Take action now," said Jones County EMA Director Marda Tullos. "Do what you need to do to protect your property and move away for a few days if need be. There is a lot of rain still coming, a lot of water still coming from Jasper County, so there's a very good potential for flooded roads and of course flooded yards and could possibly get in your homes."
Tullos said the Tallahala Creek typically is anywhere from 2 - 5 feet high around this time of the year, a big difference to what is expected to crest Tuesday.
"If you need to put everything up and move away for a couple of days then do that now," said Tullos.
