Elected office qualifying begins in Forrest County

Elected officials throw their name into the hat for re-election. Elected officials throw their name into the hat for re-election.
FORREST COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

January 1st marked the day when candidate qualifying began for state and county elected officials. 

Shortly after Monday morning's Forrest County Board of Supervisors meeting, all five supervisors and Chancery Clerk Jimmy Havard walked across the street to the Forrest County Circuit Courthouse and put their names into the hat for their elected office. 

Some other names of notice were Sherry Oswalt Reid for Forrest county circuit clerk. 

She is the daughter of the current Circuit Clerk Lou Ellen Adams. 

Also, former Hattiesburg Police chief of Police Charlie Sims put his name of the list of candidates for the Sheriff of Forrest County.
