A man who was trapped in an overturned log truck has died, according to Jones County Fire Coordinator Dan McKenna.
Rickey D. Stewart, 42, of Decatur, Mississippi was trapped in an overturned log truck for two and a half hours before he died of his injuries, according to Jones County Coroner Nancy Barnett.
Stewart was involved in a two vehicle accident that happened on Highway 29 South of Ellisville Wednesday morning.
Stewart's 18-wheeler hauling logs struck another vehicle near a bridge and went down an embankment.
The driver of the other vehicle turned down medical attention at the scene.
First responders tried to extract Stewart from the vehicle, and a life flight helicopter was on the scene but left after the coroner confirmed his death.
The incident occurred around 9:18 AM.
