HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

This is a press release from the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute:

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at The University of Southern Mississippi, is focusing on fitness. A new program, OLLI after Five, is tailored to the fitness needs of those who work, or when other priorities keep them from exercise classes at OLLI.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays OLLI will offer PiYo from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. PiYo is a blend of Pilates and Yoga designed to help individuals strengthen their muscles while increasing flexibility and relaxation. The emphasis will be fitness, nutrition, goal setting, and exercising.

A new Fit Club is also being introduced and will be included as a part of OLLI After Five. The OLLI Fit Club will be a place to trade healthy recipes and discuss health and fitness topics, during biweekly meetings, as well as a closed Facebook page to stay connected outside of meetings. Once a month the class will head to the OLLI kitchen after class and concoct a smoothie made from ingredients class members contribute.

OLLI After Five is scheduled to begin Tuesday, January 6th. From January 6 to February 5 the cost will be a drop-in rate of $5.00 each class. Once classes begin on February 9th, the cost for OLLI After Five, for OLLI members, is included in their annual membership fee plus the $20 course fee for 10 classes; non- members, may join for $20.00 plus the OLLI membership fee.

OLLI offers programming geared toward individuals 50 years of age or older, with any level of education, working or retired. The premise behind OLLI is that learning at any age is fun and a great way to keep mind, body and, spirit healthy. All offerings are presented in a relaxed atmosphere with break time to socialize.

Individuals interested in joining OLLI After Five, receiving a schedule, or joining OLLI should call the OLLI office at 601-264-2780, or visit www.usm.edu/olli, e-mail to: olli@usm.edu or visit the OLLI offices at 3601 Pearl St., Hattiesburg, during normal office hours.
