Lamar officials tight-lipped about possible fatal shootings

LAMAR COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

Lamar County officials have not yet confirmed whether two bodies that were removed from an apartment near Old Highway 11 early Saturday morning were victims of a shooting.   

Unconfirmed reports said two people were shot at the residence on N. Windridge Lane Friday night. Lamar County Sheriff's deputies, the Lamar County Coroner's Office and Hattiesburg Police Dept. crime scene investigators worked the the scene for about four hours, before the two bodies were taken away by ambulance shortly after 3 a.m.    

Neither law enforcement nor the Coroner's Office would provide any information at the scene.

    Following a school-record 55 wins and run that ended in an 8-7 loss in the NJCAA national championship, Jones County Junior College softball is eager to open the 2018 season on February 3. Coming that close to the school’s first national title serves as motivation enough for the Lady Bobcats. Regardless, expectations are always high for coach Chris Robinson’s teams – JCJC is a combined 105-12 the last two seasons.
