HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Dozens of needy families in the Hattieburg area who often drop by for lunch at Christian Services were treated to a special annual holiday dinner Tuesday. A Christmas luncheon, featuring turkey and other traditional holiday items, was served especially for folks who are frequent visitors.
Live gospel entertainment was provided and many good-hearted volunteers also served up some Christmas cake.
"A lot of these people wouldn't eat, if it don't be for Christian Services," said Tommie Thomas, one of the folks who shared the Christmas meal. "And they're doing wonders out here. I've been eating out here for the last three years and they have good food, it's well prepared," he said.
"We are family here, it doesn't matter what our backgrounds are, it doesn't matter what house we live in," said Cookie Prout, co-founder of Christian Services. "Together, God has brought us here as his children to celebrate the birth of Jesus," she said.
Christian Services has been serving its Christmas luncheon for 28 years.
