Jones County couple charged with arson

JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

A Jones County couple was arrested and charged with arson Tuesday morning.

The couple could both face up to ten years. 

When firefighters arrived to a mobile home fire on Watermelon Road in Ovett Sunday, witnesses informed officials the homeowners were seen leaving the property just minutes before the fire.

Travis Nicholson, 31, and Lisa Nicholson, 29, were later taken into custody by Richton Police. 

According to the fire investigator, the couple admitted to setting their home on fire. 

Both had bond set at $7,500.00 each.

The investigation is still ongoing in this case.
