HPD holds Christmas party for children of the victims of homicide

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The Hattiesburg Police Department held a Christmas party luncheon on Monday at the C.E.Roy Community Center. Several families were in attendance and lots of presents were given to each and every one of the children. Santa stopped by to hear requests for upcoming Christmas day on Thursday.

 "The police department sponsors the event for the children of the victims of homicide and we as a part of this event come and salute our police officers. So as the officers are serving the community, we come from Grace Temple to serve our police officers," said Dewayne Higgason Pastor, Grace Temple Ministries. "We feel they are worthy of our respect and our support. We are here to show them a lot of love. To let them know that some people are out there for them."

HPD thanked several area individuals and organizations who helped make this event happen, those include Ryan Cheverolet, Mississippi Power, Buffalo Wild Wings, Chili's, Applebee's,Sam's Club,Coca Cola, Southern Theatre, Georgia Blues, Wal-Mart, Academy Sports, Corner Market, Firehouse Subs and Subway Sandwich Shop.
