New Augusta man charged with string of armed robberies

NEW AUGUSTA, MS (WDAM) -

 A New Augusta man found himself behind bars following a string of early morning armed robberies. 

Perry County Sheriff Jimmy Dale Smith said called started coming in around six Friday morning concerning several armed robberies. 

Smith said 21-year-old Kenneth Wayne Harrison allegedly robbed three truck drivers at gunpoint, and attempted to burglarize a home all within one hour. 

Sheriff deputies quickly apprehended Harrison. 

Harrison is being charged with three counts of armed robbery with a deadly weapon, and one count of attempted burglary.

    The new Miss Hospitality has been crowned in Hattiesburg.  She is Emma Grace McGrew, 18, of Booneville.
