HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The Southern Miss men's basketball team is in the early going of it's 2014-2015 campaign and they've already seen a fair share of hiccups.

From an investigation by the NCAA into possible infractions under former head coach Donnie Tyndall, to the release of Shadell Millinghaus and Dallas Anglin from this season's team, it's been a bit of a rocky road.

As the team prepares to face Jackson State on the road Thursday night, redshirt sophomore Matt Bingaya said the team is ready to play.

"Coming off of losing two of our key players, it's been a little tough trying to get the team back into how we used to play. They were key people in our offense, but I think it's been a good week of practice," said Bingaya after Wednesday afternoon's session.

"Everybody is coming in hard, everybody is coming with the same mentality that we got to get better because if we lose somebody, somebody else has got to step up."

USM (5-3) and JSU (1-9) tip-off from the Lee E. Williams Athletics and Assembly Center tonight at 7 p.m.
