'America's Next Top Model' hosts auditions in Hattiesburg

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Hattiesburg hosted auditions for a spot on America's Next Top Model's 22nd season on Wednesday.

"We've had a lot of great contestants come in today," said Ron Harper, Pine Belt's CW Station Manager. "They're going to get an opportunity to walk on the catwalk. All these people will get the opportunity to be viewed by the judges for America's next top model which is a great experience... an opportunity that I don't know how they would get that opportunity in any other way except to go to one of these casting calls."

Model hopefuls competed for a career-launching prize package. In previous years the package has included  contracts, sponsorship from major retailers, and $100,000 cash prizes.

According to Harper, contestants were required to submit an extensive application, take profile photos and compete in a runway walk.

Both men and women, several whom travel from different states, attended the audition.

America's Next Top Model, hosted by Tyra Banks, airs on The CW channel 23.2 on Friday nights during the spring and fall.
