HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Southern Miss basketball is 0-2 on the road this season (5-3 overall), and Thursday the Golden Eagles begin a three game road swing starting against in-state foe Jackson State.
The Tigers are 1-9 this season, but nine of the ten games have been away from the JSU campus.
Asked if their opponent's record is deceiving, USM head coach Doc Sadler said, "There's no question. We probably would have the same record, if that, if we played their schedule, along with a lot of other people."
JSU's lone home game was a 86-56 loss to Hofstra, Nov. 28.
Even with a supposed lackluster team in front of them, the Eagles are expecting a tough match-up at the Lee E. Williams Athletics and Assembly Center.
"The last two road games we lost, we didn't really grind like we usually do for the whole entire game," said redshirt sophomore guard/forward Matt Bingaya.
"I think the key for us is going in there with a good mindset or a mindset of we've got to come in here and get the job done regardless of what their record is," Bingaya said.
