Basketball Bobcats ranked No. 24 in latest NJCAA poll

ELLISVILLE – The Jones County Junior College Bobcats have entered the NJCAA Division I basketball poll.

Head coach Rahim Lockhart's Bobcats are rated No. 24 in this week's poll, which was released on Tuesday afternoon.

The defending national champions are 8-0 on the season, 2-0 in the MACJC South Division. Dating back to last year's championship run, the Bobcats have now won 16 straight games.

JCJC is currently on Christmas holiday break and will not play again until they host Itawamba on Jan. 6 at A.B. Howard Gymnasium. The women's game begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men's game at 7:30 p.m.

In this week's poll, 12-0 Vincennes (Indiana), who JCJC defeated in the national semifinals last year, is ranked No. 1, followed by 14-0 Northwest Florida State College, 14-0 College of Southern Idaho, 12-0 Salt Lake Community College (Utah) and 14-0 Butler Community College (Kansas) at No. 5.

The team that JCJC defeated in last year's championship game – Indian Hills Community College (Iowa) – is No. 6 at 12-1.

The only other MACJC/Region 23 team in the poll is 9-0 Pearl River at No. 23.
