STONE COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

This is a news release from the Stone County Economic Development Partnership

The Stone County Community Art Quilt was dedicated yesterday at the Historic Courthouse located at 323 East Cavers Ave., Wiggins. Twelve quilt pieces were created by teams made up of community leaders, elected officials, local artists, and students from Stone County High School.

The quilt project was initiated by students in Mrs. Emily Sumrall's, 9th Grade class whose assignment included learning the history of their community.

In the process, students decided to create this Community Quilt to tell the story of Stone County. Each square represents something significant to the students. Timber Industry, education, recreation, spirituality and more were all designed by the Community Teams.

The Art Quilt will be on display at the Historic Courthouse through mid-January. For more information, contact Stone County EDP.
