14 WCU students inducted into Sigma Tau Delta

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -  This is a news release from William Carey University. 

Fourteen William Carey University students were inducted into Alpha Gamma Gamma, the William Carey University chapter of the Sigma Tau Delta English honor society, on December 12.

Those inducted included Jonna Bonnette of Hattiesburg; Jessica Boyette of Biloxi; Ignacio Cerda of Seminary; DeAnna Edwards of Ovett; Mabry Ely of Raleigh; Joseph Goss of Picayune; Sean Laird of Gulfport; Ryan Lott of Pearl; Juliana Oswalt of Hattiesburg; Houston Cole Saxon of Lumberton; Nigel Simmons of Picayune; Alyson Speights of Hattiesburg; Gunner Stewart of Petal; and Bethany Truhett of Meridian.

WCU has been affiliated with Sigma Tau Delta for over 20 years. The honor society was founded in 1924 as “an order designed to promote the mastery of written expression, encourage worthwhile reading and foster a spirit of fellowship among those specializing in the English language and literature.” Admission to the chapter is open to undergraduate and graduate students with an overall “B” average in English courses and ranking in the highest 35 percent of the student's class in general scholarship. The sponsor of the WCU chapter is Dr. Marsha Newman, associate professor of English.
