HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Two service organizations in Hattiesburg teamed up Saturday morning to raise money by feeding folks a traditional breakfast of flapjacks and sausage. The 53rd annual Pancake Day at the Sigler Center was hosted by both the Hattiesburg and Hub City Kiwanis Clubs.
For $5, you got all the pancakes, sausage, coffee, milk and orange juice you could want.
The proceeds will be used to help the Dubard School at Southern Miss, the Boy Scouts, the Girl Scouts, the Salvation Army and other organizations.
"It's our only fund-raiser of the year and it's from these funds that we're able to fund all the charities that we support throughout the community," said Roger Smith, chairman of Pancake Day.
Organizers were prepared to serve 1,000 people. They hoped to raise about $10,000.
