HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

A one vehicle accident on Interstate 59 in Jones County backed up traffic for nearly an hour on Thursday.

The driver of a Nissan car lost control of his vehicle while attempting to pass an 18-wheeler on a Leaf River bridge near the Sandford Road exit.

Eyewitnesses said the car bounced off the left guardrail on the bridge, crossed of the road and crashed into the right guardrail, where it came to a stop.

No major injuries were reported.

The MS Highway Patrol and Jones County Sheriff's Department responded to the accident.

The incident is still under investigation.
