HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

There will be many activities happening around downtown Hattiesburg this weekend including the Holiday Artwalk.

The Historic Hattiesburg Downtown Association puts on the event during the holidays. Art exhibits will be held throughout the downtown area.

Area local artists will be showing their work at the train depot. Visitors can stop by the Carter Building and pickup an activities map, they will also be hosting Santa Claus for a visit with the kids between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. Certain streets will be blocked off for safe pedestrian travel, mostly Front St. and Main St. from Pine St. all the way to Buschman St.

The Historic Hattiesburg Downtown Association puts on the event during the holidays and executive director Andrea Saffle said, “Holiday art walk is something that we've been doing for years since the early to mid 90's and it really a staple of the holidays for Hattiesburg. I encourage everybody to come out and be a part of the renewal of artwalk. Shop local, visit all of our stores and check it out.”

The event begins around 2 p.m. and will end around 8 p.m. Free shuttle rides to the Victorian candle lighting nearby will also be happening that evening
