HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The African American Military History Museum held a Christmas open house today in Hattiesburg.
The historic USO building was decorated in Christmas décor and visitors could snack on food and refreshments while listening to carolers singing traditional music.
Visitors could also purchase an assortment of souvenirs sold there at the museum plus there was also a gift-wrapping station.
“When we have our open house it's a great time for us to fellowship with the community around the holiday season. We have it annually," said museum manager Latoya Norman."This building itself was a building that welcomed the community, so we want to honor it's legacy by continuing that tradition.”
The facility opened in 2009 and showcases the service and sacrifice of the African American soldier.
