Joe's Viewpoint: Be a Santa to a Senior

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

There is a Christmas tree in the Turtle Creek Mall near the food court. On that tree are ornaments. Each represents a senior in our area and a wish they have for Christmas. I spoke to Anna Edenfield with Home Instead today and she needs our help. She is responsible for placing the tree there and gathering Christmas wishes from several organizations. She tells me the goal is to help 400 seniors this year. She has been doing this for 6 years and is amazed each year at how practical their requests are. And is not fitting that this group, many of whom are known as the greatest generation, have wishes that are so very practical?

These are the people who, in their younger years, built our cities and streets, ran the companies who employed us and our parents or taught in our schools and now they need us. I took an ornament from the tree. This is for Will and he wants a picture frame, baby powder and tube socks. Well Will, I have you covered. Please stop by the mall a Be a Santa to a Senior.
