A Hattiesburg man is behind bars and facing multiple weapons charges after firing shots in the air near West 4th Street.

Terry Barnes, 21, was arrested Wednesday afternoon and charged with possession of a stolen fire arm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

According to Hattiesburg Police Lt. Jon Traxler, around 4:00 p.m. police were called about a person walking down the street with a gun near Hattiesburg High School. A Hattiesburg police report states Barnes also fired shots off into the air in the wooded area between Vickers's Circle and West 4th Street. No one was injured in the incident.

Barnes was taken into custody near the Ben McNair Community Center, just south of Hattiesburg High.

According to Traxler, the weapon was recovered, and it was found out to be stolen from a previous commercial burglary from Fisher Brothers Pawn on West Pine Street.

The investigation is still ongoing at this time.
