Pine Belt man arrested, accused of murdering Miss. woman in Ore.

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - A man accused of murdering a woman in Oregon fled to Mississippi shortly after allegedly committing the crime, according to a Springfield Police Department report.

Jonathan Folks, 25, was arrest on Saturday for allegedly killing Donna Perry, 48.

Perry's body was found on Nov. 23 in the motel room that she shared with Folks, according to a Springfield Police report.

According to the report, Perry had traveled to Oregon from Mississippi with Folks for temporary work at a local mill.

Springfield Police said that Folks then fled to Mississippi after allegedly killing Perry.

"We received a phone call from Lane County Sheriff's Department for assistance," said Forrest County Investigator, Nick Calico. "The two investigators were on their way down here and asked if we would help assist them in trying to locate a person of interest at the time, Jonathan Folks."

Calico said after Springfield investigators obtained an arrest warrant they contacted Forrest County Police Department to assist in Folks arrest.

"Then our Captain here at the Sheriff'sDepartment went with the two Springfield detectives from Lane County, Oregon and picked up Mr. Folks without incident," said Calico.

Springfield Police Department confirmed that Folks was picked up Tuesday morning by detectives and was flown back to Oregon.

Folks is a convicted felon, and has been in and out of the court system in the Pine Belt.

Family said Perry was a decorated soldier with over 20 years in the U.S. army with some of that time spent at Camp Shelby.
