The Perry County Board of Supervisors is in the middle of their Toys for Tots campaign.
Toys for Tots is a program sponsored by the United States Marine Corp who believe no child should have to wake up on Christmas morning and not have a toy under the tree. To register a child to get on the gift list contact the Perry County Supervisors office, though pre-registration is not required. Collection boxes have been set up at different businesses through out the county for folks to drop off unwrapped toys.
"Some folks are blessed more than others so we've asked those individuals whose blessings have been more than others to share a little bit," said Tommy Walley, District Two Supervisor. "For the simple reason that we want everyone to have a Merry Christmas."
One of the locations accepting the Toys for Tots is the Adult Daycare on Elm Ave. in Richton. Not only are they participating in Toys for Tots, they have also reached out to Billie Ruth Hinton who is battling breast cancer. Tuesday they presented Hinton with a gift box full of canned goods, a turkey and other things she will need for a Thanksgiving feast for her and her family.
Toys for Tots boxes will be in their respective businesses until Dec. 1.
