HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Holiday travel this season has already picked up at the Hattiesburg-Laurel Regional Airport, thanks to their new carrier, American Eagle.
The American Eagle began service to Dallas-Fort Worth on November 6.
From November 6 to the morning flight of November 24, American has boarded 325 passengers which is roughly 100 more than Silver Airways would do in a month. As the numbers go up, Tom Heanue, Executive Director of Pinebelt Regional Airport, said there's a lot of value in choosing to fly locally over traveling out of town to catch flights.
"I think you'll be real surprised if you start to look on the internet, if you go to AA.com and start to look at your tickets out of PIB, going to wherever you want to go, really you'll be surprised at the cost comparisons pretty close." said Heanue "After you factor in free parking, the travel time and the mileage on your vehicle, you'll be real surprised that you're probably going to get a better deal out of here."
Heanue also said they are ready for holiday travel season and encourages everyone to choose the Hattiesburg-Laurel Regional Airport to get them to their holiday destinations.
