FORREST COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

Three men are behind bars and charged with aggravated assault linked to a Thursday night shooting that occurred during a home invasion and burglary in South Forrest County.

Rishawn Hall, 25, of Gautier, Monroe Taylor, 20, of Gulfport, and Marcus Simmons, 24, of Wiggins were all arrested in connection to a home invasion that left one man suffering from a gunshot wound at a home on Carnes Road.

According to investigators the men entered the residence, displayed hand guns, robbed one victim, and held a gun to the other. During the incident, one victim was shot and authorities stated it was in the right leg, and the injury was not life threatening, but the victim was transported to a local hospital.

The suspects then fled the scene, and one of the victims was able to get a vehicle description and gave it to authorities.

The vehicle was later spotted and stopped by Stone County authorities and the three suspects were detained, and later booked into the Forrest County Jail.

Simmons was charged with aggravated assault and burglary, Taylor was charged with home invasion and aggravated assault, and Hall was charged with aggravated assault and burglary.

Forrest County investigators were able to impound the vehicle and after running a search warrant recovered a handgun that is believed to be used in the crime.

According to officials the investigation is still ongoing.
