HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Hattiesburg Police have arrested and charged Lincoln Kelly, 32, with murder and residential burglary in connection to the Wednesday shooting on Morningside Drive in Hattiesburg

A second suspect, Reginald Hoyle, 28, was charged with accessory after the fact in the shooting death.

According to Forrest County Coroner Butch Benedict, the victim was identified as Christopher Robinson, 48.

Benedict stated the victim will be sent to the Mississippi State Crime Lab for an autopsy.

According to HPD Lt. Jon Traxler, officers responded to a report of shots fired around 3:30 at 3997 Morningside Drive.

Upon officers arrival, they found Robinson suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound at the bottom of the stairwell of an apartment unit and transported by ambulance to Forrest General Hospital, where he later died.

A second victim suffered minor injures when a bullet went through a door and struck him in the groin area. He was not transported to the hospital according to Traxler.

According to officials Lincoln was booked in to the jail late Thursday night with a lesser charge, and Friday his charges were upgraded.

Police urge anyone with any other information to contact Metro Crime Stoppers at 601-582-STOP.
