Christmas Shop for a Cause

LAUREL, MS (WDAM) -  Looking for gifts for the Christmas Holiday and want to support a great cause at the same time? There is a way you can do it with less stress. The second annual "Shopping for a Cure" kicks off in Laurel, Tuesday, December 2nd. The event will take place at the Gardiner Building, at the corner of 2nd Avenue and 10th street, from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.   Not only is this a great time to buy gifts for loved ones, but you can also treat yourself. Register for door prizes and enjoy refreshments as you shop for a cause.  A portion of all the money raised will benefit the American Cancer Society.

The American Cancer Society takes those dollars to use for support research that will find the next breakthrough treatments to save lives. Your gifts also finance a 24/7 hotline to answer questions about cancer from millions of people. The Society also provides free lodging for patients and care givers who are far from home.

The American Cancer Society reports more than one million people in the United States get cancer each year. Officials also say 2 in every 3 people diagnosed with cancer survive at least 5 years thanks in part to the American Cancer Society.
