Petal standout offensive lineman Javon Patterson announced Thursday morning in front of a packed gymnasium that he will continue his football career next year at Ole Miss.
Patterson received his U. S. Army All-American Bowl jersey in October, and he is widely thought of as one of the best offensive lineman prospects in the country. The four year starter's final three choices came down to Ole Miss, Auburn, and Mississippi State, and Thursday morning he said he was relieved to have finally announced his decision. "It felt good you know. People say it's a lot pressure. It's not really from the coaches, it's more from the fans, and hey you should go there and do this. But it's a great feeling to finally go ahead and get it done with."
Patterson plans to graduate early from Petal High School and enroll at Ole Miss in the spring to get an early start. The new Ole Miss commit says he cannot wait to get started towards the main goal. "Obviously the Rebels are doing great things and I want to be a part of that and impact them and win a national championship."
