The Petal Children's Task Force is asking for donations

PETAL, MS (WDAM) - The Petal Children's Task Force located at 314 South George Street in Petal, give food boxes up to thirty-two people every single day. With holidays approaching, they are asking for donations in order to provide these boxes for the increasing number of families they feed. They are in need of non-perishable food items such as canned peas, corn and meats. Also in need is cereal, peanut butter and jelly, along with other food items which might go into each food box.

The organization also provides used school uniforms, jackets, shoes and belts. These items are being requested but not regular clothing items due to the lack of storage restrictions.

Kelly Courtney, a coordinator for the organization, says that the feeling they get from serving needy families, touches everyone there.

"We give them a food box and the children are just delight, they can't believe all the food in that box is for them to take home, said Courtney "The parents will actually start crying, they can't believe it's that much food they get to take home and it just warms our heart, it makes us want to cry because we're just so happy that we can help families like this that need the help."

They also accept monetary donations which are tax deductible and help buy food supplies when the pantry runs low. For more information on how you can help The Petal Children's Task Force, you can call them at: 601-255-5578.
