Juvenile in custody for allegedly calling in two bomb threats

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

A juvenile is behind bars and charged with two counts of false reporting of a bomb in connection with two bomb threats to N.R. Burger Middle School, one which occurred Tuesday and the other last week.

The unidentified juvenile was booked in to the Forrest County Juvenile Detention Center, according to Hattieburg Police Department's Lt. Jon Traxler.

"This was a prank, which it still has to be treated as legitimate, causing the expenditure of resources that are unnecessary," said Traxler. "That being personnel, equipment that is tied up and resources from other departments because of a prank."

The investigation into the Hattiesburg High bomb threat is still under investigation.
