No. 9 Crusaders Roll Past Touglaoo, 101-87

Hattiesburg, Miss.- Five Crusaders scored in double figures as No. 9 William Carey University blasted Tougaloo College, 101-87 in non-conference action at Clinton Gym on Monday night.

After a back and forth start, WCU was the first seize control of the game as they put together a 14-2 run to open a 31-20 lead with 8:11 to play. Carey pushed the lead to 13 points before Touglaoo closed the half with a 14-6 run to cut the WCU lead to 44-39 at the half.

The Bulldogs tied the game early in the second half but Carey answered and back and opened another eight point lead before Tougaloo rallied and tied the game at 66. Carey then put the game away for good with a 17-3 run.

Carey finished the night shooting 58 % from the floor and scored 72 points in the paint including 45 in the second half.

Cory Jackson (JR/Biloxi, Miss.) and Reshad Bickham (SR/Jackson, Miss.) led WCU with 21 points. Donta Pittman (JR/Waynesboro, Miss.) added 13 points while Terrance Mujahid (JR/Memphis,Tenn.) and Deione Weeks (JR/Horn Lake, Miss.) each finished with 11 points.

The Crusaders open SSAC play on Saturday as they travel to Montgomery, Alabama, to take on Auburn Montgomery. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00 pm.
