JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - The National Weather Service in Jackson, Mississippi confirmed that one tornado occurred last night in Jones county.

The tornado was one mile southwest of Mill Creek near Holifield rd and Highway 84.

It was rated as an EF-1 with winds peaking at 95mph. It was as wide as a football field and was on the ground for 2.7 miles. No one was hurt, but it did damage a chicken house, a barn and two power poles were snapped.

The tornado also pushed a mobile home off its blocks and downed many trees.

The team began surveying Jones County Monday morning to investigate damage that occurred on Sunday night near the Myrick community.
