The Salvation Army of Laurel kicked off the holiday season with a program at the Sawmill Square Mall in Laurel Friday.
The program signaled the start of their annual Angel Tree and Bell Ringer campaign. The Angel Trees will be located at various places around the city. They contain the names of children in need and presents they would like for Christmas.
"Many times in Mississippi and in the US we take for granted that everybody is going to get gifts and going to have Christmas," said Sheriff Alex Hodge, Jones County Sheriff's Department. "The Salvation Army does Angel Tree trying to give children who otherwise might not have one, a present under the tree Christmas morning."
The Laurel High School Select Choir performed Christmas Music during the program.
