Lady Crusaders Advance to SSAC Title Game

Montgomery, Ala.- No. 2 William Carey University advanced to the championship game of the 2014 SSAC Tournament with a 2-0 win over No. 11 Martin Methodist College on a frigid afternoon at the Emory Folmer Soccer Complex.W

CU need to just two minutes to strike the game's first goal as Johanna Hubinette (SO/Klagshamn, Sweden) knocked in a cross from SSAC Player of the Year Claudia Saucedo(SR/Miami, Fla.) to put WCU up 1-0.

The Lady Crusaders dominated play in the first half out shooting the RedHawks 7 to 3 but were unable to add to their advantageMartin Methodist picked up the pace in the second half however WCU was up to the challenge.

Linfah Jones (JR/Guayaguayare, Trinidad & Tobag) stopped three shot in the final 45 minutes and Saucedo provided the cushion with a counter attack goal in the 84th minute.

WCU will look to avenge their only on the season on Saturday at 11 am as they take on the University of Mobile in the championship game of the SSAC Women's Soccer Tournament.
