Petal held its annual “Mayor's Prayer Breakfast” Thursday morning at the civic center. The breakfast is an opportunity for citizens, business leaders and government officials to come together for fellowship and breakfast.
The keynote speaker for the event was Matt Dillon, Superintendent of the Petal School District. Dillon talked about the importance of keeping Petal first and being involved. He went on to talk about moving the city forward through the Petal School educational system.
“The city was founded on having a separate school district and the city has never lost sight of that, the citizens have never lost sight of the most important thing and that's educating our young people and everybody rallies together whether it be the churches, the civic organizations, the business leaders, everybody's always there to help us.” Dillon said, “The parents know the importance of having our students to school each and every day, they volunteer, we just have a very unique situation here and I think that's why we've had success over time and we'll continue to have success.”
This is the 23rd year that the Kiwanis Club of Petal has hosted the Mayor's Prayer Breakfast.
