USM library hosts exhibit focusing on university's connection to armed forces

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Dozens of photographs, letters, books, banners and other artifacts are part of a new exhibit at Southern Miss focusing on the university's 100-year connection to our armed forces.

About 50 items are included in the collection, which is on display on the first floor of the Cook Library.

"The primary goal is, of course, to honor our veterans and remember their families and folks who serve in the military on Veterans Day, but also to show that the university has had this long relationship with them as well, over time," said Steve Haller, curator of historic manuscripts and archives at USM.

The display will be up until the end of the semester.
