HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Time is limited for Southern Miss to prepare for UT-San Antonio this week, but head coach Todd Monken said he anticipates Nick Mullens will play Thursday against the Road Runners.
"Well, I just think you do a lot more stretching, you give them a lot more rest, you know, in terms of how much you're really asking them to run," said Monken at the team's press conference.
Mullens has been out with a foot injury since the first quarter of the team's 31-20 loss to Louisiana Tech, October 25th.
The Golden Eagles (3-7) have lost three straight since their last trip to the Lone Star State, which was a 30-20 win at North Texas, October 18.
"Bottom line is you have to do what you do in a short week. You have to play to your strengths that your players will know. You don't have a lot of practice time to really come up with a lot of things that are new because you really don't have time to work on them."
Kickoff against UTSA (2-7) is set for 7 p.m. and can be seen on the CBS Sports Network.
